Santa Ana has a list of events you can attend when it starts to get hot outside, but sometimes you just don’t know where to look for them. We all know summer is about having fun, but what about if you can also learn while you’re at it? That’s exactly what Santa Ana museums are for. Museums are not only a fun way to fill time, but they can also be an educational experience. Going to a museum is a great way to keep your kids actively learning during the summer.
Each culture is unique and has a lot of history you can learn about. The Bowers Museum is designed to bring all cultures together. They have over 90,000 items from all around the world to help you learn about other cultures. The current building was built in 1936 and is now eight times the size of what it was originally.
Brewers Museum offers a couple of events every week. Their American Blues ‘n Jazz Festival is coming up on July 10, starting at 11:00 a.m. This will be a festival full of free live music, face painting, and art!
Keep your kids engaged in learning by bringing them to Discovery Cube , full of hands-on learning activities for kids. Discovery Cube is holding a five-day STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) camp from June 27 to July 1.
The Lyon Air Museum brings history to life with its aircrafts and unique automobiles. They focus on World War II and how the United States has changed due through past events. Take a tour and learn about the history of the United States.
Lyon Air Musem will be hosting Hot Rods on the Tarmac on July 16. They will have food and drinks to enjoy while you are admiring the hot rods. If you have a unique hot rod, you can register it here to show it off at the event!

Come celebrate Frida Kahlo and her brilliant paintings on July 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heritage Museum in the second annual Frida Fest in Santa Ana. There will, of course, be art to enjoy, as well as music and food. They even have a look-a-like contest going on at the festival. Families and pets are welcome to join the summer event!
Have you been looking for new brands to support? There is nothing better than supporting your local small businesses. Every first Saturday of the month, small businesses from all around Santa Ana will come together to put on a remarkable event. There will be food, drinks, and games to be played. Funk, 90s hip hop, and R&B will play in the background as you discover local brands. You just might be surprised at the treasures you find right in Santa Ana, CA.
A movie in the park is a great way to spend your Wednesday summer nights. There is something magical about being under the stars with your friends and being totally absorbed in a movie. The city of Santa Ana knows that movies in the park are everyone’s favorite summer activity, which is why they are hosting a movie night every week! To make it even better, they will be passing out free popcorn to the first 500 guests along with other food that will be available for purchase. They will also have crafts for children to enjoy before the movie starts.

The Fourth of July is a special day to be celebrated. Santa Ana puts on a great celebration every year for their residents. They will kick the celebration off at 5:00 p.m. on July 4 in Centennial Park . Santa Ana has gone all out to make sure all attendees have a good time. There will be food trucks, kid activities, and live music, with a firework show beginning at 9:00 p.m. Make sure to bring chairs and blankets to sit on while you celebrate.
What’s a summer night without live music? The Observatory offers live music every night during the summer! They have amazing artists lined up to make this an unforgettable summer. No matter your taste in music, there will be an artist for you. Make sure to plan ahead of time so you can get tickets before they run out. Below are just a few of the performances that will be happening this summer:
Dancing on a summer night with your best friends is a must, especially to live music. Listening to Sean Kingston live is a summer event in Santa Ana you won’t want to miss. Join Sean Kingston, known for his 2007 song “Beautiful Girls,” at the Observatory on July 14 at 7:00 p.m., with general admission at $30. Don’t miss your chance to experience a once-in-a-lifetime event.
If you haven’t been to a concert during the summer, you are missing out! Luckily for you, Arlie will be at the Observatory this summer, and he puts on a great show for all age groups. He sings a mix of retro and modern pop that gets everyone on their feet dancing. The show will be on July 15, starting at 7:00 p.m., and general admission will be $15.
There are an unlimited amount of summer events in Santa Ana to be a part of. That being said, Calum Scott performing at the Observatory might just be the best one. Calum Scott is known for his astounding voice and was one of the top contestants on Britain’s Got Talent . He will be performing on June 29 at 7:00 p.m., and general admission will be $25. These tickets will go fast, so make sure to purchase soon.
With all of the fun activities and events the city has to offer, Santa Ana is an amazing place to live. Summer is a prime time to get closer to your community and learn more about history and cultures from all over the world.
