How to Help Pets Love Your New Pet-Friendly Apartment

Did you know that living in a pet-friendly apartment can improve your life? First of all, it means you can have the companionship of a pet! Besides the benefits of having a live-in companion, research shows that people who have a pet live healthier lives. They have lower blood pressure as well as decreased cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Moving into a new space can be hard on your furry or non-furry companions, though. However, it’s not too hard to help your pet adjust to living in your new pet-friendly apartment. Keep reading for some ideas on how to make it an easy transition for you and your pet.

Create a Comfy, Safe Space

Moving can be stressful for anyone, but especially for a pet. That’s one of the reasons why it’s a good idea to create a dedicated space for your dog, cat, or other creature in your pet-friendly apartment. The space gives them a place to go when they want to be alone, relax, or deal with a stressful situation or anxiety. The space could include a crate or enclosure, dog or cat bed, favorite toys, and food and water bowls.

Giving your pet its own dedicated space in your apartment will help it feel more comfortable in its new surroundings and help it cope with any stressful or anxiety-inducing situations.

Get Social at Your Pet-Friendly Apartment Community

Have you ever seen doggie friends lying around at a park? No! They spend time together playing, aka exercising. By the time they’re done, your dog will be exhausted and probably too tired to bark at every noise it hears. They’ll reap the benefits of exercise, too.

Having doggie friends also teaches your dog how to react to the world around it without aggression. Socialized dogs understand how to respond in a friendly way to new people, places, and other animals, so you don’t have to worry about your dog biting or growling every time you encounter another person or pet.

So get out and walk around the community and meet other dogs and their human companions. At Park Plaza , we make it easy with our very own onsite dog park, so you never have to go too far.

Go Out and Explore

Santa Ana doesn’t have a dog park, but there are plenty of beautiful places to walk around with your pet! Bomo Koral Park is a short walk from our pet-friendly apartment community. With more than 10 acres, there’s plenty of space for you to wander with your pet. Another good choice is Santiago Park , with its hiking/exercise trail, multipurpose field, picnic tables, and bike trail. If a beach is more your style, Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach is about 30 minutes away.

Play and exercise time are essential components of a happy, healthy life for pets. Getting out and exploring the parks, trails, and beaches in and around Santa Ana will give your dog yet another reason to love living here!

Helping your dog learn to love your new apartment can take a little work, but don’t worry: it’s not hard and can be fun for everyone! Creating a comfy space, helping your dog make friends, and exploring the area go a long way in helping your dog love your new living space. And we’d love to provide that space for you.
